The Singing Entrepreneur Forum

Darren Abrahams and Arlene Rolph, two friends and colleagues in the profession, recently set up a forum called The Singing Entrepreneur. It’s tag-line – Make Your Career Your Business – tells you something of their intentions, which are to bring “the global community of opera singers together to inspire success, survival, employability and solvency in the classical music industry”. That’s an ambitious plan, but one which is attracting attention and support from singers all over the world, as it becomes apparent that the project is touching a nerve and answering a need. They have got together with Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival, to hosting a two-day conference to discuss many of these issues. Guest speakers from all parts of the business will be offering their thoughts on the first day and on the second day, a panel of representatives from the employers’ side of the business will be answering questions in an open debate, with questions from the floor. The Singing Entrepreneur Forum is on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th August 2012 Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival 2012 at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, London www.tete-a-tete.org.uk
