    Over My Shoulder is the story of two singers – Elisabeth Schumman, darling of the opera and recital stage – and Jessie Matthews – “the English Ginger Rogers” and the highest-grossing female artist of the 1930s in the UK. Although they never met, their lives contain many symmetries and at one point they worked at neighbouring theatres in Covent Garden. Through a quirk of fate they now lie in neighbouring graves in a West London cemetary.
